What We Offer
Built for Cool-Season
Grass and Clay Soil
Lincoln lawns are bluegrass, fescue, and rye sitting on heavy clay. We mow, time, and feed them for what they actually are — not the generic schedule a national franchise runs everywhere.
Weekly & Bi-Weekly Mowing
Cut at 3.5 inches with sharp blades, never more than a third of the blade per pass, with trimmed edges and clean lines. Taller grass shades its own roots and crowds out crabgrass — scalping it in spring is what leaves you with a thin, brown lawn by July.
Pre-Emergent & Weed Control
Crabgrass pre-emergent goes down before the soil hits 55°F — early-to-mid April in Lincoln. Miss that window and you fight crabgrass all summer. We spot-treat dandelions and clover after the lawn greens up instead of blasting the whole yard in April.
Core Aeration & Overseeding
Lincoln's clay compacts hard, so we pull real soil plugs every 2–3 years to get air and water back to the roots — paired with a late-August to September overseed, where new grass survives at ~85% versus roughly 50% in spring. We seed a tall fescue / bluegrass blend.
Fertilization
A slow-release nitrogen program — about 1 lb of N per 1,000 sq ft — timed to feed roots, not force a flush of soft top growth. We steer clear of the cheap high-nitrogen "weed and feed" bags that push blade growth and leave the lawn weaker heading into summer stress.
Spring & Fall Cleanups
Spring cleanup once the soil firms up (raking a half-frozen lawn just compacts it and tears dormant blades), and fall leaf removal hauled off before a wet mat smothers the turf over winter and invites snow mold. Beds and walkways edged so the whole property reads as cared-for.
Full-Season Maintenance Plan
One recurring plan that folds mowing, edging, pre-emergent timing, the aeration/overseed pass, and the spring and fall cleanups into a single fixed price. We route your neighborhood together, so the per-visit cost beats one-off calls and nothing slips through the seasonal cracks.

Questions Answered
How often should my lawn be mowed in Lincoln, NE?
Lincoln lawns are cool-season grass — Kentucky bluegrass, fine fescue, perennial rye, sometimes a tall fescue blend — and they do most of their growing in the spring and fall flushes. During those stretches weekly is the right call; bi-weekly lets the grass get tall enough that you're cutting off more than the healthy one-third per pass and stressing it. In the July–August heat lull, growth slows and we'll stretch the interval rather than charge you for a mow the lawn didn't need.
What height do you mow at, and why does it matter?
We keep cool-season lawns at about 3.5 inches and never take off more than a third of the blade in one cut. Taller grass shades its own roots, holds soil moisture, and crowds out crabgrass — a 2-inch lawn in spring becomes a 1-inch, scorched lawn under summer drought. We also sharpen blades at the start of the season and keep them sharp; a dull blade tears the grass instead of cutting it and leaves a yellow-brown haze across the whole yard for a week.
When does pre-emergent need to go down in Lincoln?
Before the soil hits 55°F — in Lincoln that's usually the first or second week of April. Pre-emergent stops crabgrass before it ever germinates, but it only works if it's down ahead of that soil-temperature window. Miss it and you're fighting crabgrass all summer with far less effective post-emergent products. One catch: if we're overseeding an area that spring, we skip pre-emergent there, because it blocks your new grass seed from germinating too. You pick one or the other per area.
Do I need to aerate, and how often?
Lincoln's heavy clay compacts hard, which chokes off the oxygen, water, and fertilizer your roots need. Core aeration — the kind that pulls actual soil plugs, not spike shoes — once every 2–3 years fixes that. We usually pair it with overseeding so the holes give new seed a protected spot to germinate. Most established lawns don't need it annually; if your soil is like concrete by midsummer or water puddles instead of soaking in, you're overdue.
When is the best time to overseed a thin lawn?
Late August through mid-September, not spring. Fall gives new seed warm soil, cool nights, and zero competition from dying summer weeds — survival runs around 85%. Spring overseeding survives closer to 50% in a normal year because the seedlings have only weeks before summer heat hits, and you have to give up pre-emergent to do it. If a bare spot can't wait, we'll do a light spring fill and a heavier fall pass; if it can wait, fall every time. More on overseeding timing here.
How much does lawn mowing cost in Lincoln, NE?
Most residential mows in Lincoln land between $50 and $150 a visit depending on lot size, how much trimming and edging it takes, and obstacles like beds, trees, and slopes. Recurring weekly or bi-weekly plans price better per visit than one-offs because we're already routing through your neighborhood. Every quote is a fixed number you see before we start — no per-visit surprises.
